Smithfield Figure Skating Club's Learn to Skate Program is a proud member of LEARN TO SKATE USA - the only learn to skate program endorsed by US Figure Skating, USA Hockey, and US Speedskating. The program mission is to provide a fun and positive experience that will instill a lifelong love of skating.

General Mission Statement about the Learn-to-Skate program:
The Smithfield Figure Skating Club Learn-to-Skate Program is modeled after U.S. Figure Skating’s “Learn to Skate USA” curriculum and is designed to teach children and adults the basic maneuvers of ice skating. The Learn-to-Skate program is the pre-requisite to advanced training for all individuals interested in pursuing the competitive aspects of the sport.Private Lessons
Private lessons are available for your skater during the freeskate time of their Learn to Skate session. This is a weekly one-on-one lesson with one of our instructors. Coaches are independent contractors and all financial arrangements are made with them directly. Cost varies per week based on the hourly rate of the instructor hired. If you are interested in private lessons for your child, we will put you in touch with an available instructor. It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that ALL beginner skaters wear a safety or bike helmet. Single blade skates only (sharpened).Clothing
