Learn To Skate

Adults and children age four and older are welcome to join our program.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION FOR NEW PARENTS AND STUDENTS: The Registration Information desk is located just inside the front door to the Smithfield Municipal Ice Rink.

 

Learn to Skate Fall 2008

Registration for the Fall 2008 LTS Session will be held on the following dates:

Wednesday July 30 & August 6 - for skaters already in our program 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Wednesday Auugust 13 & 20 - Open Registration for the general public – as space permits
5:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Session Levels and Times

Session #1:
12:00-12:15 pm Snowplow Sam 1-3 and Basic 1(new) – practice (free skate)
12:15-12:40 pm Snowplow Sam and Basic 1(new) – Group Lesson

Session #2:
12:40-12:55 pm Basic 1 to Basic 4 – practice (free skate)
12:55-1:20 pm Basic 1 to Basic 4 – Group Lesson

Session #3:
1:20-1:35 pm Basic 5 to Freeskate 6 and Adults – practice (free skate)
1:35-2:00 pm Basic 5 to Freeskate 6 and Adults – Group Lesson

Fee: $110.00* [ * includes $10.00 annual USFS basic skills membership fee good through August 31, 2009]

Payment
The learn-to-skate program accepts payment in the form of checks and money orders. We would prefer this method of payment over cash. Thank you. Checks should be made out to: Smithfield Figure Skating Club (SFSC).

All skaters should download and fill out all of the following forms:

Skater Application form (Please bring completed form to rink)

US Figure Skating Registration form (Basic skills Membership - Please bring completed form to rink)

Waiver and Release of Liability & Parental Consent and Indemnification Agreement (two pages - Please bring completed forms to rink)

 

General Mission Statement about the Learn-to-Skate program:
The Smithfield Figure Skating Club Learn-to-Skate Program is modeled after U.S. Figure Skating’s “Skate With U.S.” curriculum and is designed to teach children and adults the basic maneuvers of ice skating. The Learn-to-Skate program is the pre-requisite to advanced training for all individuals interested in pursuing the competitive aspects of the sport.

Safety
It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that ALL beginner skaters wear a helmet and gloves or mittens.
